        Education & Community Initiatives

The Boston Ballet's Division for Education and Community Initiatives (ECI) aims to cultivate and educate a new generation of life-long arts advocates and participants. The department's programs are designed to serve a range of community constituents and connect young people and their families with high quality arts experiences in neighborhood schools, community venues (Boston Opera House and Strand Theater) and the Boston Ballet's world class facilities.

The department's primary goals are to serve as a laboratory for the development of best practices in arts education, to implement innovative community building efforts and cultivate creative, dynamic young leaders who apply the principles and discipline of dance beyond the studio and stage environments.

Efforts to engage special needs students and to promote in-school, out of school time(OST), and extended learning time(ELT) have garnered national attention and served as a model for art access in urban schools throughout the dance community.
