Christine Busch was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut and Atlanta, Georgia. Born into a theatrical family, she appeared in a number of musicals in summer stock, making her stage debut at the age of five as child “Liza” in Lady in the Dark. She studied at the Atlanta Ballet School with Merrilee Smith and Dorothy Alexander, founders of Atlanta Civic Ballet, and Robert Barnett, soloist with New York City Ballet. She went on to study on scholarship at Joffrey Ballet School, and as an apprentice to the Harkness Ballet. Her mentor there was former New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Patricia Wilde. She also studied ballet with master teacher Vera Volkova, modern dance with Stuart Hodes, and jazz with Jack Cole, amongst others.

Professionally, Busch danced with American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, and The Metropolitan Opera Ballet under the direction of famed ballerina Alicia Markova. With American Ballet Theatre and San Francisco Ballet, Busch worked with such luminaries as Anthony Tudor, Agnes De Mille, and Jerome Robbins. She danced a wide repertoire including all of the classics and works by George Balanchine, Lew Christensen, Elliot Feld, and other contemporary choreographers. After stints in Pittsburgh and Hartford, Busch toured extensively across the United States and Europe.

In 1994, Busch rejoined Boston Ballet School as Principal of the South Shore Studio in Norwell. After holding that position for several years, she joined Boston Ballet’s senior faculty at the Newton Studio in 2009. Busch has served on the faculties of San Francisco Ballet School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, and The Boston Conservatory. She has held the positions of Principal of the School of the Hartford Ballet and Dance Connecticut, Director of the School of the Richmond Ballet in Virginia, and ballet mistress for BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio. She has been a popular guest teacher across the country, at schools including the Atlanta Center for Dance Education, Milwaukee Ballet School, and School of North Carolina Dance Theatre. Busch has been honored by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, awarded the Monticello Scholarship for choreography by the National Association for Regional Ballet, and been listed in Who’s Who in Entertainment and Who’s Who in Emerging Leaders.
