        kreyer_jesse

Chicago native Jessica Kreyer first joined the faculty of Boston Ballet School in 2004 and was promoted to the position of Principal for the School’s North Shore Studio in the fall of 2013.

An accomplished dance educator and respected teacher, she has taught in the School’s Classical Ballet Program for nine years and has been instrumental in helping to build the curriculum for the Elementary levels.  She has choreographed various works for Boston Ballet School and has created Elementary level class demonstrations for the annual Spring Showcases at all three Boston Ballet School locations.  Kreyer has served as a Children’s Ballet Mistress for Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker and has taught for the Citydance program.   She has also taught for Milwaukee Ballet School, Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre, the Foothills Conservatory, and at Harvard University.

Kreyer began her studies with Eva Lorriane in Chicago before continuing at the Academy of Movement and Music.  As a student, she not only performed featured ballet roles but, as a member of the company Momenta, appeared in works by such modern dance icons as Doris Humphrey, Ruth St. Denis, and Martha Graham. She was a scholarship student at the summer programs of Houston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Pennsylvania Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Milwaukee Ballet.  Kreyer continued her schooling at the Ruth Page Foundation with Larry Long, and eventually joined Civic Ballet of Chicago. As a company member, Kreyer performed in many of Page’s works, including The Nutcracker, at the Arie Crown Theatre.

Kreyer joined Milwaukee Ballet Company, under the direction of Simon Dow, in 2001, dancing a full range of classical and contemporary works.  Her professional career has also included performances with Columbia City Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre, Ballet Entre Nous, Lakes Area Ballet, and the Foothills Conservatory.  Winner of the prestigious Carey Rose Winiski Scholarship, Kreyer has also performed at such major public events as the Republican National Convention (2000) and Chicago’s Dance for Life Gala (2001, 2010).

She lives north of Boston in the town of Winthrop with her husband, BBS faculty member Pavel Gurevich, and their daughter.
