Audition Instructions
• Boston Ballet School does not pre-register for United States auditions. All students auditioning in the United States must register at the start time listed for each audition site.
• A $30 audition fee is required at United States auditions. Cash or check accepted.
• The European audition fee is €25. Students are encouraged to pre-register on our website. Students who register at the audition must pay audition fee in cash.
• The audition format will be a traditional ballet class with barre, center, and pointe work for older students.
• NO PHOTOS or RESUMES needed for the audition.

Eligibility
• Students must attend the audition scheduled for their current age, not the age they will be during program.
• Program eligibility is based on audition performance and age as of the first day of the program.
• Students from outside the U.S. and Canada must be between the ages of 15-19 on the first day of the program.
• Students from the U.S. and Canada must be between the ages of 10-19 on the first day of the program (please note, housing is not available for students ages 10-11).

Clothing Requirements
• Women should wear pink, footed tights, black leotards, and bring pointe shoes to the audition.
• Men should wear black tights and a white T-shirt to the audition.

Studio Directions
For directions to a specific studio, please contact the studio directly. The full Audition Tour Schedule will offer phone numbers for each of the studios where Boston Ballet School will be holding auditions. Please plan ahead for your audition. Some studios will not have someone to answer the phone outside of regular Monday - Friday business hours.

Online pre-registration has ended for Europe auditions. Students planning to audition in Paris or Madrid can still register on the day of the audition beginning at 2:00 PM. Please be prepared to pay the €25 fee in cash.

Video Audition Instructions

Boston Ballet School strongly encourages all students to audition in person. However, we do accept videos if circumstances prevent you from attending a live audition. There is a $50 video audition fee, which may be paid by check or money order made out to "Boston Ballet." Students from outside the U.S. and Canada must be at least 15 years old by the start of the program.

The video must be recorded between October 1, 2013 and February 14, 2014 to be eligible for submission. Please mark the video with the creation date. All videos must be received by Friday, February 14, 2014. The video must be in a DVD format ready to view on American DVD players.

Videos must be accompanied by an audition card. Please print, complete and send with video. Results will be communicated in April. Please note, all videos become property of Boston Ballet School and may not be returned.

The videotape for an individual or class should include the following:
- Complete barre (one side only)
- Center floor work
       - adagio
       - pirouette combination
       - petit allegro
       - grand allegro
- Pointe work
       - echappés
       - relevés in arabesque
       - pirouettes en pointe
       - diagonal turning combination

The video should not exceed 15 minutes in length.

* Please wear only leotards, tights and appropriate shoes in the video.
Variations from this format will affect the evaluation of your audition, which may in turn affect your audition results.

Class Video Auditions
All students must wear a number during the class audition. An audition card must be sent for each student with their number listed on each card. Each class audition video should have a maximum of ten students. Please follow the format listed above for what should be included.
